About Beacon Rise Primary School

Beacon Rise Primary School provides an education for children between the ages of 3 and 11 years.

The school's planned admission level for September 2007 is 60 (i.e. a maximum of 60 children of reception age can be accepted at the school). There are currently 430 children on roll organised into 14 classes. A nursery class offers places for 30 children in the morning and 30 in the afternoon. Admission to the nursery class is normally in the September following a child's third birthday. Admission to the Early Years department is normally in the September following a child's fourth birthday.

In the September following their eleventh birthday the children transfer to Secondary School. Information about these matters is detailed in a book published by the LES in accordance with section 8 (5) of the Education Act 1980. Copies are available from the school, the Education Welfare Offices or for inspection in Public Reference Libraries.

The school is housed in three buildings, Frome, Severn and Avon, and has a library and a separate dining hall. Frome building houses the School Office, Headteacher’s Office, Staffroom, Library, Nursery, I.C.T. Suite and two Reception classes.

There is plenty of hard playground space allowing the younger infant children and the junior children to play in separate playgrounds. The Foundation Stage (Nursery and Reception) pupils play in their own Early Years playground which incorporates outdoor climbing equipment.  All KS1 pupils have access to this area by arrangement between their teacher and the Foundation Stage staff. There is also a large playing field which children use in fine weather.

Our principle aim is that each child should reach his or her potential. We firmly believe that for this to be best achieved we need to establish a genuine partnership between home and school. When parents and teachers share agreed goals then the foundation for a rich educational career is firmly laid.

We all want our children to be challenged intellectually, to feel secure, to feel valued and be proud of belonging to the community of Beacon Rise School. We believe that through working in partnership with parents we can ensure children succeed and potential is fulfilled.

As a school we are proud to be holders of the Investors in People business standard award for organisation, team work and staff development. The staff and Governors believe this reflects the overall standard of education at Beacon Rise.
