NETBALL CLUB 2010 - 2011

After a very successful season last year, once again we have decided to enter two teams into the South Gloucestershire Netball League.  This teams are called; Beacon Warriors and Beacon Monkeys.

The league this year is very popular with about 36 school teams playing.  The league has been split into 4 mini leagues, we are playing in the South Gloucestershire East League.  Between now and June we have 10 matches to play so keep checking this page to find out how we are getting on.

South Gloucestershire Netball League Winners

Beacon Warriors v Frampton Pumas
08-07-11

On Friday the Beacon Warriors played Frampton Pumas in the final of the South Gloucestershire Netball League.  Both teams had won their half of the league so we knew this was going to be a tough match. 

Frampton Pumas made a really quick start when the match started.  They scored immediately and followed that with another goal.  Shortly after they scored again!  We were 3-0 down in the middle of the first quarter.  Suddenly we found a bit of rhythm and some space on the court.  Luckily Ruby scored three goals for us to make it 3-3 but then Frampton Pumas scored again.  At the end of the first quarter it was 4-3 to Frampton Pumas.

In the second quarter, both teams played well.  The game continued to be very fast paced with the ball moving from one end of the court to the other.  Both teams had attempts at goal but no goals were scored.

In the thrid quarter, the tension was incredible.  Both teams were playing to win.  Frampton scored another two goals and Gracie scored a goal for us.  The score was 6-4 to Frampton Pumas.

We knew in the final quarter we had to play our very best.  We leapt into action.  Ruby and Aidan both scored goals to draw the overall score 6-6.  The teams spirits lifted and we continued to have attempts at goal.  Aidan and Ruby each scored another goal.  The final score was 8-6 to Beacon Rise. 

We were all so excited, we had won the South Gloucestershire Netball League.  The Warriors and the Pumas played a fantastic final, pushing both teams to play at their very best.  The whole team were crowned star players as they had to really dig deep to come back and win the match.

Beacon Monkeys

The Beacon Monkeys played well in the league and came third in the South Gloucestershire East Netball League.  Brilliant!!

What a fantastic and successful end to the netball league.  Well done, Beacon Warriors and Beacon Monkeys.

Beacon Rise v Air Balloon Friendly

On Wednesday 13th July, we had a friendly netball match against Air Balloon school.  In the first quarter we passed the ball well and Charlotte scored a goal so it was  1 nil.  In the second quarter Halle scored 2 goals and Molly scored a goal to make it 4 nil.  In the third quarter, Dan scored 2 more goals to make the score 6 nil.  In the last quarter, we continued to pass the ball quickly and Aidan scored 2 more goals.  In the end we won 8 nil.   Dan and Ella were both crowned star players for their excellent passing.

Beacon Rise v Cadbury Heath
28-06-11

Yesterday Year 4 and 5 played a friendly match against a Year 5 team from Cadbury Heath.  Molly was chosen as captain and won the toss.  We chose to take the first centre pass. 

In the first quarter, we made a quick start with Halle scoring very quickly.  We passed the ball well and kept possession of the ball.  Charlotte also scored a goal for us.

In the second quarter, we used the space well to find gaps on the court.  Ella and Aidan were shooting.  Fortunately Aidan scored three goals and Ella had two very close attempts.  In the third quarter, Cadbury Heath scored a goal.  Siana and Mason had attempts but they kept bouncing out!

In the final quarter, we continued the dominate the game, passing well and intercepting the ball.  Halle and Dan both scored a goal each.  The final score was 7-1 to Beacon Rise.

Olivia was crowned star player because she was always in a space and threw the ball with accuracy.

Beacon Rise v Cadbury Heath
28-06-11

A Year 4, 5 and 6 team also played a Year 6 team from Cadbury Heath in a friendly match.  Elysia took the toss and lost so Cadbury Heath took the first centre.

In the first quarter, we moved around the court well, intercepting the ball and attacking confidently.  Ruby and Tommy were shooting.  Luckily Tommy scored two goals.  Gracie scored a goal in the second quarter.

In the third quarter, we kept attacking.  Kane scored two goals and Jazz scored a goal.  Ruby scored a goal in the final quarter.

The final score was 7-0 to Beacon Rise.

Lily was crowned star player because she marked her player tightly and intercepted the ball on several occasions. 

Beacon Warriors v St Anne’s
14-06-11

Yesterday the Beacon Warriors played against At Anne’s.  It was a home match.  When the match started we were all a little nervous and took a couple of minutes to settle into the match.  Luckily Jazz was finding the net and scored 3 goals is the first quarter and Ruby scored 1.

In the second and third quarters we defended the ball very well.  The ball moved from end to end quickly.  Tommy scored 2 goals, Halle , Aidan 1 and St Anne’s scored a goal.

In the final quarter Jazz continued to score with a further 2 goals.  The final score was 10-1 to Beacon Warriors.  Tommy was crowned star player as he read the game brilliantly, defended very well and intercepted on many occasions.

Beacon Warriors v Cherry Garden
13-06-11

Today the Beacon Warriors played against Cherry Garden.  We were all excited as we had not played a league match for a few weeks. 

When the match started we quickly found our rhythm and Tommy and Ruby both scored immediately.  Throughout the first quarter we attacked and defended the ball well.  Unfortunately Jazz tripped but played on.  Tommy scored two more goals and Ruby scored another five!  Cherry Garden scored a goal. 

In the second quarter, the ball was passed around from end to end quickly.  Both teams had chances at goal and luckily Alicia scored four goals for us.  The third quarter was as successful for us, Jazz scored two goals.

During the final quarter we intercepted the ball and passed the ball forward rapidly. Ruby and Aidan were always ready to shoot.  Ruby was on fire, she scored a further seven goals and Aidan scored three. Cherry Garden also scored a goal.  The final score was 25-2 to the Beacon Warriors.

Ruby was crowned star player as she scored thirteen goals in total.  Aidan was also crowned star player as he read the game brilliantly, always intercepted and moved the ball forward with accuracy.

Beacon Monkeys v Cherry Garden
13-06-11

Today the Beacon Monkeys played against Cherry Garden.  This was our last but one league match. Our next match is against the Beacon Monkeys!!

The match started and both teams were evenly matched.  The ball was passed from end to end with both Cherry Garden and Beacon Monkeys intercepting the ball.  Both teams had chances at goal and luckily Gracie scored two goals for us.

In the second quarter we passed the ball with increasing accuracy, making sure we were in spaces.  Mason and Molly both scored two goals each with Cherry Garden scoring a goal.  Alysha scored another goal in the third quarter and Cherry Garden scored another goal.

In the final quarter both teams played really well and took their chances.  Gracie scored three goals for us and Cherry Garden scored two.  The final score was 10-4 to Beacon Monkeys.

Beacon Rise v Cadbury Heath
24-05-11

Today Year 4, 5 and 6 played 2 friendly matches against Cadbury Heath. 

Our first match was Beacon Rise Yr4/5 against a Cadbury Heath Yr5.  This was the first netball match for some of the players so we were all very excited and nervous.  In the half of the match both teams played well.  We passed the ball well and gained in confidence.  Molly and Brad both scored a goal for us.  Then we rotated positions and Mason scored a goal.  We rotated positions again and Olivia scored a goal.  At half time we were 4-0 up.

In the second half, we played with confidence and accuracy.  We defended the ball and passed with accuracy.  Sometimes we passed the ball quickly using all the space on the court.  Roseanna, Charlotte, Molly and Mason all scored a goal for us.  The final score was 8-0 to Beacon Rise Yr4/5.

Although the whole team played well, Olivia and Molly were crowned star players. Olivia passed the with speed and accuracy and Molly dodged her defender by coming in front to get the ball.

The second match was Beacon Rise Yr4/5/6 against Cadbury Heath Yr6.  In the first half the ball was passed and defended well by both teams. Cadbury Heath took their chance first and scored, Ruby then scored twice for us. 

In the second half, both teams had chances at goal.  The ball was passed from one end of the court to the other.  Eventually Jazz and Tom scored a goal for us.  The final score was 4-1 to Beacon Rise Yr4/5/6.

Kane was crowned star player as he used the court to make sure he was in space to move the ball forward.

Beacon Monkeys v Barrs Court
17-05-11

Yesterday the Monkeys played another league match against Barrs Court.  The match was played at Barrs Court.  The toss was taken and we won; Megan the toss up so chose to take first centre pass. The whistle blew and both teams made confident starts.  The ball was passed around quickly with both teams intercepting well.  Luckily at the end of the first quarter Jazz scored to put us 1-0 ahead.

In the second quarter, we continued to play well and Alysha scored quickly.  We passed the ball well and Alysha scored 4 more goals with Ruby scoring a further 2 goals. 

In the third quarter, Mason, Halle, Jazz, Dan and Megan intercepted the ball several times and worked hard to find spaces on the court.   Megan scored for us then Barrs Court scored a goal at the end of the quarter.

In the final quarter, Barrs Court made a quick start and scored 2 goals.    Unfortunately we lacked accuracy with shooting.The final score was 7-3 to Beacon Monkeys.  All the team played brilliantly.  Dan always found a space on the court, Mason was great at intercepting the ball, Alysha was on fire with shooting, Megan passed the ball with accuracy and Halle and Jazz moved quickly around the court to find spaces, created chances, moved in front of their opposition and intercepted the ball. 

Beacon Warriors v Barrs Court
27-04-11

Yesterday the Beacon Warriors played against Barrs Court.  Both teams made a really good start – passing the ball with accuracy and intercepting.  Luckily for us Ruby was Goal Shoot and scored 5 goals.

In the second quarter, both teams continued to play well.  The Warriors attacked the ball and had many attempts at goal.  Unfortunately the shooters could not  score.  Barrs Court scored a goal.

In the third quarter, we passed the ball well and found space on the court.  Tommy scored 3 goals for the Warriors.

In the final quarter, we continued to pass with accuracy and defend the ball well.  Ruby scored another 2 goals and Brad scored 1.  The final score was 11-1 to Beacon Warriors.  Aidan was crowned star player as he read the game very well, intercepted several balls and always dodged to make sure he was in a space.

Avon County Finals
On Friday 1st April Beacon Rise represented South Gloucestershire in the Avon County Finals.  There were 16 teams altogether – 4 from Bristol, 4 from BANES, 4 from South Gloucestershire and 4 from North Somerset.  Each team had won previous tournaments and were chosen from approximately 150 schools.

The tournament was arranged into 2 groups of 8 teams.  Beacon Rise was in Group B.  Every team had to play 7 matches in the round and then the play off.

Our first match was against Chandag.  We were all really nervous and excited.  Chandag scored first and then Tommy equalised for us.  In the second half Chandag scored again making the score 2-1.  We played well although we needed to slow down and take more care with our footwork.

Our second match was against Westfield.  Luckily we had lost our nerves and were ready to play.  We made a really quick start in the first half with Alicia scoring 3 goals.  Ruby and Gracie both scored 2 goals in the second half.  The final score was 7-2 to us.

Our third match was against Wrington. This was a really good match with both teams passing the ball well and having lots of shots at goal.  The final score was 6-4 to us.  Jazz scored 3 goals, Aidan scored 2 and Lily scored 1.

Our fourth match was against Holymead.  Fortunately we played well and passed the ball accurately.  In the first half Tommy scored 1 goal and Alicia scored 2.  In the second half Jazz scored 4 goals.  The final score was 7-1 to us.

We played Henleaze in the next match.  We played well in the first half and Ruby scored 2 goals to put us 2-1 up.  In the second half Henleaze were the stronger team and scored 2 goals.  The final score was 3-2 to Henleaze.

Our next match was against Southville.  This was a really close match.  We scored then Southville equalised, Southville scored then we equalised and we scored then Southville equalised.  The final score was 3-3 with Alicia, Aidan and Ruby each scoring a goal.

Our final match in the round was against Charborough Road.  We played brilliantly in this match and dominated most of the game.  The final score was 9-0 to us.  Jazz scored 4 goals, Lily scored 2 and Aidan 3.

All the teams were asked to come together for results of the play offs to be announced.  It was great news for us, we had come second in Group B and had to play the first team in Group A.

In the playoff we played St Bonaventures (St Bons).  St Bons made a very quick start but luckily Tommy equalised.  St Bons then scored again.  In the second half, St Bons dominated the game intercepting many of our passes.  Jazz did score a goal for us but unfortunately the final score was 5-2 to St Bons.

We were all still really excited as we had made it through to the third v fourth final.  We played St Marys.  In the first half both teams were evenly matched and had chances at goal.  Lily scored a goal for us to end the first half 1-1.  In the second half we were much stronger.  Halle scored 2 goals to put us in the lead and then Tommy scored 2 more.  The final score was 5-1 to us.

The final was played between St Bons and Chandag.  Both teams were evenly matched and the final score was 4-3 to St Bons.

It was a brilliant day; we all really enjoyed ourselves and were presented with bronze medals by Stacey Francis an England Netball player.

Beacon Warriors v Our Lady of Lourdes Eagles
29-03-11

Yesterday the Beacon Warriors played against Our Lady of Lourdes Eagles.  The Eagles made a very quick start and scored immediately.  Luckily for us Tommy equalised.  The Eagles passed the ball well and dominated the first quarter, they scored another two goals. In the second quarter, we found our rhythm and passed the ball with greater accuracy.  Luckily Ruby was Goal Shoot as she scored 5 goals to put us ahead 6-3.  The Eagles then scored to make the half time score 6-4. In the third quarter, we passed the ball well and found space on the court.  We intercepted the ball several times.  Gracie scored 2 goals and Alicia also scored a goal. In the final quarter Aidan and Lily both scored a goal.  The final score was 10-4 to us.  Alicia was crowned star player as she defended the ball and found space when attacking.

Beacon Monkeys v Our Lady of Lourdes Hawks
29-03-11

The Beacon Monkeys played against Our Lady of Lourdes Hawks last night.  As the match started we attacked the ball well and Jazz scored for us.  We were all excited and defended the ball well.  Jazz scored another 4 goals. In the second quarter we continued attacking the ball.  Mason scored 3 goals and Halle scored 2 goals.  The score at half time was 10-0 to us. In the third quarter we had several chances to score.  Luckily Dan scored a goal.  The Hawks also scored a goal. In the final quarter Jazz was shooting again and scored a further 2 goals.  The final scored was 13-1 to Beacon Monkeys. Molly and Ella were crowned star players.  Molly attacked the ball well, always found a space and passed with accuracy.  Ella defended the ball well and showed determination to get the ball.

Beacon Warriors v Mangotsfield
23-03-11

Last night the Beacon Warriors played Mangotsfield.  Both teams were very excited.  Mangotsfield took the first centre pass and scored immediately.  We took the next centre pass and Ruby equalised for us.  The match continued with both teams intercepting the ball and passing very quickly.  In the first half Tommy also scored a goal.

In the second half Mangotsfield scored, the result was 2-2.  Both teams played well and were quick with attacks.  Lily scored a goal for us, then Mangotsfield equalised.  We had a few more chances to score and luckily Gracie scored.

The final score was 4-3 to Beacon Warriors.  The game was very close.  Tommy was crowned star played because he intercepted the ball frequently and defended very well.

Beacon Monkeys v Mangotsfield
23-03-11

Also the Beacon Monkeys played Mangotsfield last night.  Halle won the toss and chose to take the first centre pass.  Immediately we passed the ball with accuracy and Halle scored within the first minute.  Both teams passed the ball well and had a few chances at goal.

In the second half both teams played well.  We had several chances to score but unfortunately we could not get the ball in the net.  As the match was ending Mangotsfield had several chances to score and like us they could not score.

The match ended and the score was 1-0 to Beacon Monkeys.  Alysha was crowned star player because she was always in a space and passed the ball with accuracy.

 

Beacon Warriors v Wick
15-03-11

Yesterday the Beacon Warriors played a league match against Wick.  When the match started both teams passed the ball well but Ruby and Tommy intercepted the balll many times.  Ruby and Tommy scored 5 goals between them in the first quarter.

In the second quarter, both teams played well.  We had several shots at goal.  Brad scored his first goal to put us 6-0.

In the third quarter, the team played well, attacking, defending and intercepting.  Alicia scored 3 goals and Gracie 1.

In the final quarter Ruby continued scoring with another 2 goals and Lily also scored 2 goals.  The final score was 14-0 to Beacon Warriors.  Ruby was crowned star player because she intercepted the ball and scored 5 goals overall.

Beacon Monkeys v Wick
15-03-11

The Beacon Monkeys also played against Wick.  We did not have Mason as he was playing in a football match!  We knew we would have to pass the ball with accuracy and use the bounce pass as we were a lot shorter than the Wick players.  In the first quarter, we passed the ball well and worked hard to keep possession.  Jazz scored a goal but Wick then scored twice to make it 2-1 to Wick.

In the second quarter, both teams continued to pass the ball the ball really well.  The game was very evenly balanced with both teams having shots at goal.

In the third quarter we Dan and Tom were attacking for us.  They worked very well together and scored 3 goals (Dan 2 and Tom 1).  Wick also scored a goal.  The score was now 4-3 to Beacon Monkeys.

In the final quarter, we knew we ha to defend well and keep possession.  Unfortuantely Wick scored to make the score 4-4.  Both teams were playing well and had their chances.  Eventually Jazz scored as the final whistle blew. The final score was 5-4 to Beacon Monkeys.  Tom was crowned start player as he defended the ball well, intercepted several times and ran in spaces.

Netball Tournament - The Grange Sports College 14-03-11

Last night the Beacon Warriors played in Netball Partnerships Final Tournament at The Grange.  There were five teams all together; St Barnabas, St Anne’s, St Stephen’s, Emerson Green and Beacon Rise.

Our first match was against St Stephen’s.  Both teams started well and had chances to score. St Stephen’s took the lead.  Both teams continued to pass the ball then we found our rhythm and passed the ball with increasing accuracy.  Aidan then equalised for us.  This boosted our confidence.  Gracie and Aidan scored another goal each in the first half.  In the second half, we intercepted the ball well and passed with accuracy.  Ruby was on fire and scored 4 goals and Halle scored 1 goal.  The final score was 8-1 to Beacon Warriors.

St Barnabas was our second match.  We started the match really well, attacking and defending.  Ruby continued to shoot with accuracy and scored 3 goals in the first half.  In the second half, we passed the ball with confidence and Tommy scored 2 goals.  The final score was 5-0 to Beacon Rise.

Our third match was against St Anne’s.  We were really excited having won two matches.  The match started and we passed the ball quickly although we were making footwork mistakes.  Gradually we calmed down and found our rhythm.  In the first half Lily and Alicia scored 2 goals each before St Anne’s scored.  Aidan scored another goal for us in the second half.  The final score was 5-1 to St Anne’s.

Our final match was against Emerson Green.  Both teams had played very well in the tournament and we had to play at our best.  The match started and both teams were evenly matched.  We were all attacking, defending and intercepting the ball.  Eventually Tommy scored to put us in the lead at the end of the first half.  In the second half Emerson Green equalised.  They then scored again to lead 2-1.  We did not give up.  We passed the ball and Lily equalised.  Soon after Gracie scored to put us in the lead.  The match was very evenly balanced.  Eventually the final whistle blew and we won 3-2.

Overall we won every match.  We were all really excited and worn out.  As the results were announced we had to wait patiently to see if we had won the tournament.  As second place was announced, we knew we had won.  We  all cheered.  Wendy, the organiser, presented us with a trophy, we cheered even louder.

On Friday 1st April Emerson Green and us will represent South Gloucestershire in the county finals.  We can’t wait.

Beacon Warriors v Emerson Green
09-03-11

Yesterday we played our second league match against Emerson Green.  The match was played at Emerson Green.  After the tournament on Monday, we were all really excited.  We won the toss up so chose to take first centre pass. The whistle blew and the match started.  Jazz passed the ball to Tommy.  Both teams made a good start, passing and defending the ball with accuracy.  After a few minutes Tommy scored a goal then Emerson Green equalised.  Luckily Tommy scored another 2 goals.

In the second quarter, we continued to play well with Ruby scoring a further 2 goals.  Gracie also scored a goal in the third quarter.  During the final quarter both teams defended the ball very well.  We had several shots at goal and luckily Ruby scored 2 and Jazz 1. 

The final score was 9-1 to Beacon Warriors. Gracie was crowned star player as she intercepted the ball several times and passed with accuracy.

Beacon Rise v Emerson Green
09-03-11

As well a Year 5/6 team played a friendly match against Emerson Green.  This was the first match for some of the team.  We won the toss and Ella chose to take the first centre pass.  As the match started Emerson Green got off to a very quick start.  They passed the ball confidently and we had to defend.  Luckily for Emerson Green they scored.  We continued to defend and eventually Oli equalised for us.

In the second quarter Emerson Green were the better team.  We defended well but unfortunately Emerson Green scored 4 goals.  In the third quarter both teams defended and attacked the ball, both teams had an opportunity to score.  In the final quarter we found our confidence and began to pass the ball.  Megan scored her first goal and was really excited.  Emerson Green then scored again.

The final score was 6-2 to Emerson Green.  Although we lost the match we all really enjoyed playing and look forward to our next match.  Dan and Charlotte were crowned star players.  Dan was always in a space ready to receive the ball and threw with accuracy.  Charlotte dodged her defender well and passed the ball with accuracy.

Netball Tournament - The Grange Sports College 07-03-11

Yesterday the Beacon Warriors and the Beacon Monkeys played in a netball tournament at The Grange.  Beacon Warriors played in Group 2 and the Beacon Monkeys played in Group 3.  Each match was 12 minutes and after 6 minutes we had to rotate positions.

Beacon Monkeys
Our first match was against Our Lady of Lourdes.  The game started and we played really well.  We defended the ball and passed the ball with accuracy.  Luckily for us Alysha scored her first goal.  Our Lady of Lourdes then equalised.  In the second half we continued to pass and attack well.  Mason and Ella both scored a goal.  The final score was 3-1 to us.

Our final match was against The Park.  We were all on a high from winning the last match.  We attacked well and had lots of shots at goal.  Unfortunately we could not score.  Eventually Jazz scored a goal and then the final whistle blew.  We won the match 1-0.

Beacon Warriors
Our first match was against Hanham Abbots.  The match started and both teams attacked and defended the ball well.  After a couple of shots at goal Ruby scored our first goal, Tommy then scored.  Hanham Abbots scored a goal next before Ruby scored her second.  In the second half we continued to attack but unfortunately no goals were scored.  The final score was 3-1 to us.

We played The Park in our next match.  We attacked and passed the ball around well using all the court.  Luckily for us Alicia scored 3 goals in the first half.  In the second half Ruby scored a further 2 goals.  The final score was 5-0 to us.

Our final match of the group was against St Stephen’s.  Both teams were evenly matched and dodged and defended the ball well.  Eventually Ruby opened the scoring, followed quickly by Tommy.  Ruby then scored another goal at the end of the first half.  In the second half we continued to attack well and Gracie scored a goal.  The final score was 6-0 to us.

The Final
As the Warriors won all their matches, we won our group and had to play in the final.  We played against St Barnabas.  The match started and St Barnabas attacked and passed the ball very quickly.  They scored a goal.  We then found our rhythm and attacked.  Ruby equalised for us.  St Barnabas scored again before Ruby equalised for the second time.  At half time the score was 2-2.  In the second half both teams continued to play well.  Both teams had attempts at goal.  Luckily for us Gracie scored a goal then Aidan scored 2.  The final score was 5-2 to us.  We were all really excited as we had won the tournament.  Now we play in the next tournament on Monday 14th March.

Beacon Monkeys v Emerson Green

Yesterday the Beacon Monkeys played another match against Emerson Green.   The match started and we had to defend the ball.  Unfortunately for us Emerson Green made a really quick start and scored 3 goals in the first quarter.

We continued to defend the ball well throughout the last three quarters.  Emerson Green scored another two goals in the third and final quarter.  At the end of the final quarter Jazz scored a goal.

The final scored was 5-1 to Emerson Green.  Mason was crowned star player because he defended the ball really well and was always looking for a space to run into.

Beacon Monkeys v St Stephen’s
16-02-11

Last night the Beacon Monkeys played their third match against St Stephen’s.  It was an away match.  The match started and we played really well.  Oli scored immediately.  Luckily we continued to play the first quarter well and Oli scored 7 goals in total.  We were all so pleased.

In the second quarter, both teams continued to play well.  Mason and Ella were shooting for the Monkeys.  Fortunately Mason scored 3 goals and Ella scored a goal.

In the third quarter we continued to attack well.   Halle and Maisy were shooting.  Although they had several attempts at goal, they did not score a goal.  The score at the end of the third quarter was 11-0 to us.

In the final quarter, St Stephen’s scored a goal.  Luckily for us tom and Halle were shooting.  Tom scored another 3 goals for us.

The final score was 14-1 to us.  We all played well and enjoyed our first vicotry in the league.  Halle was crowned star player because she moved around the court quickly and was always in a space ready to receive the ball.

Beacon Warriors v St Stephen’s

At last the Beacon Warriors managed to play their first match in the league.  We were all very nervous but really excited.   It was an away match.  The match started with us taking centre pass.  The ball was passed quickly and within a minute Tommy scored our first goal.  We continued to pass the ball quickly and by the end of the first quarter Tommy had scored 3 goals and Ruby had scored 1.  Also St Stephen’s scored in the first quarter.

In the second quarter, both teams continued to pass the ball the ball really well.  Gracie and Lily were shooting.  Both girls scored goals.  Lily scored 2 and Gracie scored 1.

In the third quarter we continued to attack, defend and pass the ball well.  Brad and Alicia were shooting.  Alicia hit the target and scored a goal for us.

In the final quarter, Aidan and Ruby were shooting.  Luckily both of them scored with our scoring streak.  Ruby scored 4 and Aidan 2.

The final score was 14-1 to us.  We all played well and enjoyed our first match in the league.  Brad was crowned star player because he intercepted and passed the ball with accuracy.

Beacon Monkeys v St Anne’s
18-01-11

Yesterday the Beacon Monkeys played their second match against St Anne’s.  It was an away match.  The match started and both teams played well.  Both teams had the ball.  Luckily for St Anne’s they scored at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, both teams continued to play well.  We had a few chances to score but unfortunately the ball would not go in the net.

The third quarter we attacked well.   Jasmine and Mason were shooting and had several chances to score but unluckily it just wasn’t our night!  St Anne’s had chances too and luckily for them scored again.

In the final quarter, St Anne’s started very well and scored again to make the score 3-0. 

The final score was 3-0 to St Anne’s.  We all played well and enjoyed our first away match.  Jasmine was crowned star player.

Beacon Monkeys v Our Lady of Lourdes Eagles
29-11-10

Today the Beacon Monkeys played our first ever league match against the Our Lady of Lourdes Eagles.  We were very excited and looking forward to the game.  The match started and both teams played well.  The ball was being passed around with both teams intersepting the ball.  Luckily Ollie scored a goal at the end of the first quarter to put us 1-0 ahead.

In the second quarter, both teams continued to play well.  Unfortunately Our Lady of Lourdes Eagles had the better chances and scored 3 goals.  We were 3-1 down.

The third and fourth quarters were well balanced with both teams having chances at goal.  Ollie then scored our second goal but Our Lady of Lourdes Eagles scored straight after.

The final score was 4-2 to Our Lady of Lourdes Eagles.  We all played well and enjoyed our first match.  Mason was crowned star player.
