South Gloucestershire Spring Festival of Youth Sport - Basketball tournament
On Saturday 25th April year 6 pupils from Beacon Rise took part in the South Gloucestershire Spring Festival of Youth Sport at Filton College. The children were entered into a very tough basketball competition cosisting of schools throughout South Gloucestershire. Despite this, the team played superbly well in their league games winning 3 and losing only 1. This resulted in a playoff with Alexandra Hosea Primary School for 3rd place. The game was end to end and despite being 6 - 0 down after only a few minutes, the team fought back well to draw 6 - 6. The game had to be decided on a tense shoot out of which we won 3 -1 and therefore taking 3rd place.
Well done to all the team who played brilliantly throughout the whole day and represented the school well. Good work Toby, George, Hatham, Ross, Elena, Annie Mae, Zoe and Bridie. A special thank you also to Mr Lodge who has helped coach the team over the past few weeks.
