Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum

Early Years Foundation Stage

In the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) we believe that children learn best through high quality experiences and interactions with adults and other children. In EYFS we like to capture children’s naturally inquisitive and creative natures and introduce them to a love of discovering and learning new things. By making learning fun we help them to develop the early knowledge, social skills and resilience they need to get the best possible school experience over the next seven years.

Our EYFS values are:

  • I am Resilient and Determined
  • I Care for Myself and Others
  • I am a Confident Communicator
  • I am Inquisitive and Curious

These values underpin all we do and provide a clear pathway to support our pupils’ development in their first year with us.

Our curriculum is based on the interests of children and relevant events and occasions. Whilst learning, children are encouraged to access all areas available to them throughout the day – the three classrooms, the shared ‘Messy Room’ and the outdoors. All of the children are taught Phonics and Maths skills on a daily basis, as well as further group sessions which are tailored to further develop their skills.  We like to develop strong links with home and invite parents in throughout the year to celebrate their child’s learning and achievements.
