Trips

We believe trips give pupils the chance to experience cultures, respect differences, and develop new friendships with their peers and thus broaden their horizons and knowledge.

Not only do school trips encourage students to learn outside of the classroom but they also allow children to socialise with peers in a different way than within day-to-day school. They also allow students to visit places they otherwise may not experience and increase their cultural capital.

Some school trips have included visits to:

  • SS Great Britain
  • Bristol Zoo
  • We The Curious
  • Lifeskills Centre
  • Bristol Museum
  • London

In addition, we work in partnership with other schools, early years providers, external agencies and the local community to extend the range and quality of learning experiences for our pupils.

Cultural Passport

At Beacon Rise, we believe that all children have the right to participate in a wide range of cultural experiences. Our Cultural Passports ensure children have access to a large variety of cultural, social and creative opportunities that may not be available to them outside of school.

Each year group has a different cultural experience to take part in. For example, in EYFS the children meet an artist, paint a picture and hold a gallery exhibition for their parents. In Year 6, the children perform a play and have the opportunity to go and see a stage performance.

Children keep their passports throughout their primary school journey and get stamps for each activity they complete. There is also spaces in the passport for them to record out-of-school experiences they have had.

Year 2 Trip to Hanham Mount

Children have been exploring their local area and learning about the history of the beacon.

Year 6 Trip to The Egg Theatre, Bath
